Outlier companies are pre-determined by the urgency and focus of their first 10 people.

The trough of sorrow sucks. It’s a grueling period of uncertainty, loneliness, and painful false summits. There are no shortcuts here, but the fastest way to product/market-fit is with an intensely focused team. Brickyard companies pull anchor for a place where there is only one thing to do: lock-in with other elite teams who also came to execute without distraction.

• We are not for everyone, and that’s ok.

• We are not an accelerator. We are a venture firm with a private facility for our portcos. We have no demo day, programming, or standing meetings.

• We invest in top pre-seed / seed companies from all over the U.S. and abroad.

• We write $300-$500k checks in 10-12 technical teams/year (usually $750k-$1.5m rounds).

• Terms: no standard terms. We invest at market.

• The handshake: move here until $1m run rate (minimum).

• Teams are here for 2 years on average. There is no cutoff date.

• ~20 portfolio teams build here at a time. There is no cost.

• Everyone travels for work but Brickyard is not part time.

• We have nothing to do w/ economic development + zero expectation to permanently HQ here.

• Our founders run this place. Brickyard partners are just useful accessories.
